On 11 and 12 October 2021, MMS has successfully conducted its first virtual Shipowners and Charterers Forum with more than 300 participants joined in virtually, from across the globe.
With the theme “Accelerating Digitalisation Towards a Sustainable Maritime Industry”, the forum served as a platform to foster greater collaboration between MMS, PETRONAS, shipowners and other business partners towards embracing the rapid changes in technology and accelerating digitalisation.
The forum was officiated by Encik Hazrin Hasan, MD/CEO of MISC Maritime Services Sdn. Bhd. (MMS). In his keynote address, En Hazrin emphasised the importance of building a synergistic partnership among its stakeholders in order to accelerate digitalisation and embrace technological advancements. This is to further accommodate the rapid changes in technology as the transition to digitalisation will improve operational efficiency and spur the industry along the decarbonisation path to realise zero emissions from international shipping by 2050.
Respected industry leaders representing a wide range of perspectives across the industry were invited as well, namely, PETRONAS, INTERTANKO, OCIMF, MMS and other industry associations as speakers and panelists for the two days forum. They are subject matter experts who shared their insights, perspectives, lessons learnt and best practices on the rapid changes in digitalisation and how the maritime industry can fashion itself forward digitally towards a sustainable maritime industry.
